Terms & conditions
The plain-English terms that apply when you book tiling work with an independent Tilewright specialist, from quotation to completion.
These terms explain how we work, in plain English. If anything here is unclear, email [email protected] before you accept a quotation and we will gladly talk it through.
Who your contract is with
Tilewright is a trading name used by a group of independent, time-served tiling specialists, each trading in their own right. When you accept a quotation, your contract is with the individual specialist named on that written quotation, not with a single company. The name of the tradesperson responsible for your work appears on every quotation, so you always know exactly who you are dealing with.
Quotations
Written quotations are free, itemised, and normally with you within 48 hours of your survey or design visit. Each quotation is valid for 30 days. Beyond that, material prices may have moved, so ask us to refresh the figures before accepting.
Deposits and payment
A deposit secures your dates and covers materials, with the balance due on completion, once you have looked over the finished work with your tiler and are happy. We never ask for full payment up front, and we would encourage you to be wary of anyone who does.
Your right to cancel
Where your contract is agreed in your home, for example during a design visit, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 give you 14 days from the day of agreement to cancel without giving a reason. If you ask us to start within those 14 days, you may be charged for work already carried out. One caveat: tiles and materials made, mixed or cut to order for your project are exempt from the right to cancel once ordered, and we will always tell you before we order them.
Site access and preparation
Your quotation sets out what preparation is included. We ask that you provide access on the agreed dates, along with water and power, and that rooms are cleared unless we have agreed otherwise. If removing old tiles or coverings uncovers something unforeseen, such as an unsound substrate that needs work before tiling can proceed, we will stop, show you what we have found, and agree any change to the price in writing before continuing.
Our guarantee
Every installation carries our insurance-backed 10-year workmanship guarantee. What it covers and how to use it are set out on our guarantee page.
Complaints
If something is not right, tell us by email at [email protected]. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and agree with you how to put things right. As members of The Tile Association, we hold ourselves to its standards and would far rather fix a problem than defend it.
Governing law
These terms, and every contract between you and an individual Tilewright specialist, are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute falls under the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
